Devils 9 Eagles 3

The Devils played a great defensive game today defeating the Eagles 9 to 3.  The Devils played well defensively with many double plays and a great inning ending catch by Steve Sheele.  Offensive leaders for the Devils were Kevin Culp going 3-4 while pitching a great game, Tom Reither 3-3 with a home run, Ken Reiss 2-3 and Gene Reeber 2-3 with 3 RBI’s.

The Eagles struck out scoring 2 runs in the first inning and then only adding one more run as they fell to the Devils by a score of 9 to 3.  The Eagles were led by Ed Brandiff who had a 3 for 3 day at the plate with a double.  There were four Eagles with 2 hits each including Ted Henritzy, Barry Winsor, Judy Agasar and Rich Dickson.  Barry Winsor pitched very well and made a few nice defensive plays.  John Walsh made a nice catch at second base in the first inning.

Blue Jays 7  Wildcats 5

The Wildcats jumped out early scoring 3 runs in the top of the first but then the Blue Jays responded with 5 runs in their half of the inning.  Jack McNulty had an RBI double, followed by a 2 RBI single by Fred Weiner and Jim O'Brien wrapped up the inning with a 2 RBI hit.  The cats tied the game in the third inning but then in the fifth inning the Jay birds struck again on hits by Jeff Blank, Ed Schmidt, Warren Fuchs and Mark Jerden. The Blue Jays then held on for a 7 to 5 win.  Both teams played very well.  Del Kates went 3 for 3 to lead the Blue Jays offense and Fred Weiner and Jeff Blank both chipped in with 2 hits.   Every member of the Blue Jays contributed to the win.

The Wildcats started the Scoring in the Top of the 1st with 3 Runs only to have the Blue Jays Fly Over them with 5 Runs of their own and the Wildcats did Tie the Game with 2 more Runs in the 3rd inning but again the Bluejays Scored 2 more Runs for the 7-5 Victory !!! The Wildcats were only able to get 10 Hits in the Game and 7 of those were in 1st and 3rd Innings The Bluejays Played aGood all around Defensive Game !!!

Thank God the Wildcats are a Very Young Team and can Put this Game behind them as a Learning Experience !!!

Classics 10 Flames 3

The Classics defense held the Flames to one run each innings for the first three innings while the Classics had two big innings scoring three runs in second and fourth going on to win ten to three. Great defense, pulling off multiple double plays, and good pitching by Tom Boyle.
The hitting attack was led by Paul Stetsko (one 2B and two 1B hits) and Ron Miller ( three 1B hits), Ron Cohen, Eric Gottlieb, Tom Jakubowski and Tom Boyle with two hits each.

The Flames were extinguished by the Classics 10 to 3.  It was a close game at 4 to 3 after 3 innings but the Classics added six unanswered runs and clamped down defensively with three double plays - one ending the sixth inning and one ending the game thwarting rallies with two men on base each time.  The Flames offense was led by Carl Weigand with two hits including a double.  Ron Tuminski, Gene Corrado, and Tom Cosgrove also had two hits for the Flames.  The defensive play of the game was made by Lee Jaslow at second base in the top of the first inning when he snared a smoked line drive with two men on base allowing the Flames to escape with a scoreless first inning.

Panthers 19 Wolfpack 8

The Panthers had their best day with the bats this year with 28 hits to defeat the Wolfpack by a score of 19-8.  The Panthers played good defense for most of the game keeping the Wolfpack at bay.  Offensive standouts included John Mack who was 4-4 with a double, Steve Belenko went 3-4 with a triple.  Ed Occhi, John Rozzalis, Terry Gallagher and Craig Wright all went 3-4.  Gary Jones and Jack Zupan each had two hits.

There is nothing a manager can say when the other team completely dominates a game as the Panthers did winning by the score of 19-8.
The Panthers jumped out with 4 runs in the first inning due to fielding errors by the Wolfpack......the Panthers never looked back after the first inning.
In a valiant effort at the plate the Wolfpack offense was led by Phil D'Angiolini with 2 hits, Craig Neiderpruem, Bob Gaines, Dick Tosti, Keith Klasic and Howard Borochaner also had 2 hits each. Jim Stabene, Ron Mangini, Tracey Zimmerman and  Augie Rosenblatt chipped in each with a hit.
But the Wolfpack made too many fielding errors and poor base running to stay competitive in the game
